The Asian offices of HRS open in the business and financial district of Shanghai in the People's Republic of China.
2000
Fifteen years after it was first introduced, the hotel catalogue is discontinued. The print medium is no longer adequate to reflect daily fluctuations in price. At the request of its customers, a CD-ROM is produced.
HRS now employs 89 people.
1999
The first WAP version of a system for mobile phones is presented at the IFA World of Consumer Electronics Fair in Berlin.
1998
In view of the company's ever-greater international orientation, HRS expands its hotel reservation system to include extra language versions. www.hrs.com is born.
HRS generates a profit on its online business.
1996
The first version of the HRS global online hotel reservation system, www.hrs.de, is presented at the International Tourism Exchange (ITB) in Berlin.
1995
The first Web site is developed.
1994
Area-based searching for hotels in Germany and the rest of Europe in introduced. The system employs self-collected geographical coordinates. It is a sensational advantage for customers during peak seasons and trade fairs.
1993
Teletext system relaunched, expanded to include photos of the hotels. HRS is the world's first profitable online system.
1992
Start of cooperation with D2 Mannesmann Mobilfunk (now Vodafone) on bookings, with immediate confirmation by mobile phone.
The online hotel reservation system is developed further under the name "Hotel World Online" to meet the particular needs of industry.
1 August 1991
The company moves to Drususgasse 7-11 near the cathedral.
1991
Strong expansion and a growing number of employees - 53 people are now spread across six floors of the building - prompt the company to seek larger premises. These it finds in the city centre.
The IBM/36-based system is replaced by a local area network and PCs. A company-own IT department is set up. From this moment onwards, all systems development is conducted in-house.
