In 1999 The Leading Hotels of the World, Ltd. introduced its first brand extension – The Leading Small Hotels of the World, for hotels with less than 100 rooms. In addition, the company launched in 2005 Leading Spas of the World, which is the first global evaluation and certification program for the spa industry.
