Rio Maior is a town in the Ribatejo region of Portugal. Located at 3Kms away from the Natural Park of Serras D’Aire and Candeeiros as well as from the salt mines (extraction of salt without sea). This small city is situated at 30Kms away from Santarém (the capital of Ribatejo), 70 Kms away from Lisbon and 25 Kms away from several beaches, such as Nazaré, Peniche, Foz do Arelho, S. Martinho do Porto – all this destinations are possible to reach by highway. From Rio Maior it is easy to visit many monuments – always possible by highway - such as Alcobaça’s Monastery, Batalha’s Monastery, Santarém (the capital of the Gothic), Óbidos Castle and the Sanctuary of Fátima.
